Soundtrack of My Life

If a movie of my life was made, this will be it's soundtrack.

Cool. I enjoyed doing this. :D

* * * *

RULES:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Media Player, iPod, Winamp etc.)
2. Put it on shuffle.
3. Press play.
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing.
5. When you go to the next question, press the next button.
6. Don’t lie and pretend you’re cool.
7. When you’re finished, tag some other people to do it!

A. Opening credits:
Can We Talk by Code Red
"Can we talk for a minute
Girl I want to know your name"
It invites the movie-watchers to try to get to know me more, I guess. Haha.

B. Waking up:
Wishful Thinking by Duncan Sheik
"Listen to the waves,
Everything communicates
Will it ever be
Anything more than wishful thinking?"
Very reflective song. Gets the brain cells working very early in the morning.

C. First Day of School:
100% Pure Love by Crystal Waters
"You saw a brand new high, thought that you could fly"
Very perky, very energetic song. Perfect for the first day of school!

D. Falling in love:
I Want You Back for Good by Take That
"Whenever I'm wrong just tell me the song and I'll sing it
You'll be right and understood"
Hindi bagay. Not really a "falling in love" kind of song. More like a "desperate for you to fall back in love with me" song.

E. First song:
Moon River
"
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see."
Romantic, idealistic song. :)

F. Breaking up:
Shiver by Maroon 5
"I shiver when I hear your name
Think about you but it’s not the same"
You can interpret it differently, if you want.

G. Prom:
Ugly Girl by Fiona Apple
Hey. I didn't look that bad during my prom. Haha.Ok, so there's an ugly duckling storyline going on...

H. Life:
You Sexy Thing by Barry White!
"I believe in miracles
Since you came along you sexy thing."
And then, the ugly duckling becomes a swan? Haha! Parang "She's All That" nyek!

I. Mental breakdown:
For The Love by Drew Sidora
Yes. Love can make you breakdown. I'm not going to contest that! Haha.

J. Driving:
With Him by Babyface
That's the best way to drive. :)

K. Flashback:
Pass You By by Boyz II Men
"A thousand days have passed
And nights gone by"
Live life with no regrets. :)

L. Getting back together:
Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?
Look up the lyrics on the internet. If you want to get back with a woman, you have got to know these things! Hehe.

M. Wedding:
Never Gone by Backstreet Boys
"Never gone, never far. In my heart is where you are..."
I always knew that these boys would be part of my wedding, in one way or another. Haha.

N. Birth of a child:
Bend and Break by Keane
"Meet me in the morning when you wake up...I'll meet you in the morning when you wake."
Perfeeeeeect!!! Awww. :)

O. Final battle:
Bridge Over Troubled Water
"When darkness comes
And pains is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down."
Dramatic!

P. Death scene:
Wash Away by Vertical Horizon
"
His eyes are tainted, staggered is his breath
Oh God, he's addicted. Addicted to death."
Morbid. Pero bagay na bagay!

Q. Funeral song:
The Last Time by Eric Benet
*sniff* Kung di pa kayo umiyak sa burol ko niyan...

R. End credits:
Truth Hurts by Usher
Yeah, it does, but it has to be told! Hence, my life story. Haha.

* * * *

Ang galing. Blockbuster ang movie ko. Or kung hindi man, bebenta ang aking OST.
Buwahahaha. :) Fun.

One Simple Act

Yesterday, one day after election day, I found myself looking for the telltale indelible ink on the fingers of the people I encountered. Sadly, most of the people I saw had clean fingers. It disheartened me because it meant that only a few people voted last May 14.

Wait. Scrap "disheartened." I was annoyed. It irked me even more so when I heard my boss criticizing the senators who've made it to the "Magic 12" in the unofficial results. "Ano ba naman ang magagawan nun?" "Puro tanga nanaman ang mamamahala satin." "Walang magbabago sa sistema natin." All that after I heard him say (loudly and proudly) that he wasn't going to vote "kasi para san pa? Mangungurakot at mangungurakot rin ang mga yan."

Ugh. I want to smack him on the head.

While he's saying all of the statements above, I am thinking "Puro tanga ang mamamahala satin kasi marami ring tanga (tulad mo) na walang ginawa para baguhin yon." Nakakainis.

Another post-election incident: I was talking to one of my officemates yesterday about the candidates we voted for. Another officemate of ours passed by (swaggered, is more like it), smirked at us, and proclaimed "wala talaga akong pakialam."

Kung puwede ko lang sha sakalin.

* * * *

I expected the youth - our hope for the future - to be all gung-ho about voting. Sadly, most of the young people (teka, considered as "youth" pa ba ako? Haha.) are the ones who are apathetic. I hear them echoing the statements made by the older, more mature people - "Wala namang kuwenta voting system dito sa Pilipinas. Mangdadaya lang yan. Bakit pa kami boboto?"

I know a lot of people who didn't vote. Some, because they weren't able to register. Others, because they didn't want to register. The rest, because they just didn't care. In this day and age, apathy is becoming the most-used excuse. Now that the world is becoming smaller because of technology; now that social problems aren't showing any signs of decreasing; now that we have more opportunities to be educated...Now isn't the time to be detached from everything else. We cannot claim that we are not informed, because the cold, harsh truths are staring at us everywhere we go.

I admit that I am not the most knowledgeable person out there, especially about politics and social issues. But I recognize that for change to occur, I am required to take action. One simple act makes a much clearer statement, and creates more opportunity for change, than not doing anything at all.

Voting is one such act that can initiate change. It is our right. It is our choice. It can change the world, if you believe in it enough.

"I think, therefore I vote." It makes a clear statement that voting takes an initiative to think, and therefore, to act and make a difference.

Halalan 2007

Elections may have a negative connotation for most people. The words cheating, corruption, and bribery usually come to mind.

This year, though, I've chosen to have a more positive outlook towards this year's elections.
I see this as a chance for change. Hope for the future. Improvement!

*sigh*

Let's see what the next few days (or weeks) will bring...

I think, therefore I vote.

It's blue skies ahead for the Philippine government (hopefully)!

My Personal Bubble

I never knew how particular I was about my personal space until recently. A few months back, I started to get really irritable when people here in the office frequently invaded my personal bubble.

I don't really mind if it's in a crowded area, like in the MRT, or in the mall. Of course, that's unavoidable. Here in the office, however, specifically when I'm sitting at my desk, I get very territorial.

Let me illustrate. My desk is about 1.2 meters long, and I am sitting somewhere in the middle of that length. There is approximately 1 meter (2.5 feet) of free space all around my chair. According to the diagram below, that is already a violation of my personal space. But this is Manila, a very populated place, so I can bring down my standards a few meters or so. No sense in being a prude.

So I bring down my personal space standard to 1 meter. That should be enough, right? This is an office, not Divisoria we are not crammed in here like sardines in a can. But with all this lease-given space, my officemates don't seem to understand the concept of proxemics.

How can I tell my officemates to please stop rolling into my zone? Is it really necessary for them to roll their chairs all the way into my intimate space bubble (yes, less than 1.5 feet, as indicated by the personal space diagram)? Kailangan ba talaga idikit nila yung upuan nila sa upuan ko? As if naman maingay dito sa office. I can hear anyone whisper from 5 feet away. Kailangan ba talaga nilang basahin kung ano man ang nasa computer screen / nasa table ko habang nasa loob sila ng aking zone? Invading my personal bubble is enough, do they have to invade my privacy as well?

Am I being petty? Is it really wrong to hate it when people hover?

I've noticed that my male officemates are usually the ones who violate this. The females, who are naturally more intimate than men, know their boundaries. Strange.

There's an invisible bubble around me. Stay away from it.

AI Results Show (May 2, 2007)

Unang una kong comment...

Puti pala si Robon Thicke.

My gosh. Akala ko African-American sha. Hahaha. Parang hindi bagay yung itsura nya sa boses nya. Para kasi siyang Prince na pinaputi. Wahaha. :) Wala, nagulat lang ako.

Second comment...

Astig talaga yung Idol Gives Back. It's the biggest pop event on TV ever. And they raised almost $70 million to give to Africa and to different communities in the States! They should do something like that here. Pero hindi ata gagana yun dito. Gagawin lang publicity opportunity yun ng mga politika, at mawawala yung inspirational message nya. Boo. Boo to myself, too for not believing that it could work here. Tsk.

Third comment...

Goodbye, Phil. I knew early-on na matatanggal sha ng maaga. Pero maganda yung performance nya kagabi eh. Sayang. Kung kelan pa sha gumagaling eh dun pa sha natanggal. Oh well. Ang ganda nung background song sa tribute video kay Phil. I Stand By You by Carrie Underwood. The same song they used for her video in last week's Idol Gives Back.

Fourth comment...

SHET NAMAN!!! It's between Blake and Chris! Wag namaaaaan. :( Hu. Pero kung papipiliin ako, mas gusto kong manatili si Blake. Please please please, wag sana matanggal si Blake! I'm a Blaker! Hehe. :)

Then...the result...

Aaaaaah! Goodbye Chris Richardson. Cutie-who-looks-short-pero-matangkad-pala. I guess I was kind of expecting it after his performance last night. Between Blake's awesome, original, out of this world performance, and Chris' consistently nasal-y performance, it's expected that Chris would go home. Too bad.

And finally...

Go Blake! Blake and Melinda for top 2! Woot-woo!

Happy Non-Working Holiday

Since it's a holiday and I have a lot of time to blog, this entry will be an assortment of sorts. :D

* * * *

I've had a full morning, and it's only 8:00 a.m.

5:45 a.m.
Woke up, abruptly ending my dreams (which, to my recollection, were pretty nice)
6:00 a.m.
Left the house
6:05
Witnessed the motorcycle in front of me topple over after he tried to take a sharp left.
6:15
Loaded gas at Shell C5
6:20
Arrived in Makati
6:25
Overshot Pasong Tamo, and took a wrong turn into Osmena Highway.
6:35
Arrived at MLV's house, gave the CD to her dad
6:40
Drove off.
6:50
Ordered breakfast at McDonald's Fort Bonifacio drive-thru.
7:30
Arrived at home. Ate my breakfast.

Wow. Sana ganito lang kadali ang biyahe papuntang Makati araw-araw.

I was planning to sleep once I got home, but the easy drive lifted my spirits a bit, and I am not the least bit sleepy now. Hay.

Will watch Shooter and Spiderman 3 in a couple of hours. Whee. :)

* * * *

Food trip!

Roti Mum.

They're not kidding when they say that they have the best coffee buns around.
Ahhhh. So nice. I could get addicted to these. :)

They just opened a branch in Megamall (next to Powerbooks). Try it!

* * * *

I've recently been addicted to Hershey's milk chocolate. As in, papapakin ko sa office yung Hershey's kisses, or the chocolate bar. Not good for my figure. And my wallet. But very good for my disposition. Chocolate = happiness.

* * * *

Yun lang. :)

Happy Non-Working Holiday!
